Well it’s been forever and a half since I’ve blogged! It unfortunately took me longer than I anticipated to get the first one out but the blog is now officially live! And this photoshoot is the perfect one to start off with since it was my last shoot of 2019!
One day I get an e-mail from Leanna telling me that her close friends Kathryn and Scott had told them about me and their engagement shoot that we did back in October. Then she says that she just got engaged to her fiance Kyle! And that they live in Connecticut and were going to be visiting Kathryn and Scott for only a few days….and that they wanted me to shoot their engagement session!!! I was flabbergasted honestly and overwhelmed with gratitude to Kathryn and Scott for telling their close friends about me. That was just a really awesome moment and feeling for me.
When Leanna and I spoke over the phone, I could tell that she has a cheerful spirit and I absolutely loved hearing all about Kyle, how they met and of course how he proposed. I was smiling the whole time we were on the phone and I smiled so much more when we got to meet up for their engagement.
How Kyle Proposed
It’s right after Thanksgiving and Leanna who is a Choir Director and Cantor at her church. She was at rehearsal when at the end of if it, Karl surprised her by dropping to one knee with a box holding his grandmother’s ring, asking her to marry him….SO incredibly sweet! I loved being able to see their posts of the night they got engaged, they were all smiles! And they were the exact same way when we met up for their shoot.
KARL PROPOSED WITH HIS GRANDMOTHER’S RING WHICH HE HAD REDESIGNED WITH TWO NEW DIAMONDS.
We met over by Captain’s Row in Old Town Alexandria and luckily it wasn’t too cold and the sun was out thankfully. We obviously took advantage of all the pretty spots Old Town has to offer including the cute cobblestone alleyways that I love so much. Kathryn also came along and I loved being able to see her again 🙂 She was such a sweetheart holding Leanna’s bag and taking some BTS shots. So grateful for her.
HOW GORGEOUS IS LEANNA? AND KARL….HE IS HILARIOUS! HE DEFINITELY TAPPED INTO HIS INNER ACTOR AND WAS ENJOYING THE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT.
We stopped at Starbucks halfway through the shoot so that they could change and grab a cup of coffee. While they changed, I took her beautiful ring outside and took some shots wondering how I can manage to get some photos done inside Starbucks….Remember it’s New Years Eve in Alexandria so this place was small and jam packed.
Then I see this awesome window with a man sitting at the table in front of it. All I could think of was one of my bucket list type shots so I approached him, telling him that I was photographing an engagement and asked him if we could borrow the table for five minutes and he happily said “oh sure!” So I hustle to Leanna and Karl all excitedly, waving them quickly to the table while they say “oh, okay let’s go!” Once they sat down, I ran outside to take pictures and at one point used my index fingers to direct them to kiss. I probably looked a little ridiculous but I didn’t care!
I had such a great time with everyone and I’m so thankful for Leanna and Karl having me capture their engagement! Especially since they were only in town for a few days. Super thankful to Kathryn and Scott of course for telling their friends about me and another thanks to Kathryn for pretty much being my assistant that evening.
And thank you all for checkin out my brand new blog! Oh and thanks the guy who let us use the table when this place was packed! 🙂
Lots of love,
